# Nutricook World — A Gulf Kitchen Brand That Never Has a Slow Checkout

> Nutricook runs flash sales and promotional campaigns that spike traffic overnight. Their checkout used to slow down exactly when it matters most. We moved everything heavy to background queues — the checkout endpoint now returns in under 300ms, no matter what's happening behind the scenes.

## Project context

- Client: Nutricook World
- Industry: Kitchen Appliances
- Year: 2023

## Challenge

Flash sale traffic caused checkout response times to spike to 8–12 seconds. The culprit was a synchronous architecture where every post-order operation — payment confirmation, shipping lookup, email send, inventory deduction — blocked the HTTP response. Customers sat on a loading screen and left.

## Solution

Rebuilt checkout with a clear sync/async boundary: only payment confirmation blocks the response. Everything downstream — shipping, email, inventory, analytics — is queued. Background workers process jobs with retry logic and dead-letter queues for failures. Promo traffic now goes through without customers noticing any pressure on the system.

## Services

- Web Development

## Published results

- <300ms Checkout response time (unconditionally)
- −67% Cart abandonment (promo launches) (post-launch)
- 100% async Post-order ops (queued with retries)
- 3 Payment gateways integrated (UAE + Gulf market)

## Benefits

- Checkout always under 300ms — queue architecture
- Flash sale traffic handled without degradation
- Secure REST APIs for payment & 3 regional gateways
- Report exports via background jobs — never blocks UI
